Mike's experience as current Lackawaxen township supervisor

Leadership Built on Trust and Transparency

Mike Mancino’s biggest takeaway from over 11 years of serving Lackawaxen Township is clear: 100% transparency is essential to building and maintaining public trust.

This belief is put into practice at every monthly township meeting, where residents receive open access to detailed bills, financial updates, policy and ordinance changes, and comprehensive budget reports, including year-to-date income, expenses, and comparisons to the annual budget. It’s a level of openness that ensures every decision is made with public awareness and accountability.

Mike’s leadership is also rooted in collaboration. Over the years, he has built strong, respectful relationships with officials at the county, state, and federal levels, connections that have helped bring real benefits to the township. His ability to work across agencies and advocate for local needs has made his tenure both impactful and responsive to the people he serves.

11 YEARS OF SMART GROWTH AND STRONG RESULTS

Over the past 11 years, we’ve accomplished the most comprehensive road improvement project in Lackawaxen Township’s history. Every paved road in the township has been fully reclaimed, significantly improving safety and accessibility for residents and visitors alike.

Despite making substantial improvements, we have maintained a strong fiscal position. Township property taxes have not been raised during Mike’s 11+ years as Supervisor. In fact, we’re doing more than ever while continuing to grow our rainy-day fund.

Our commitment to enhancing quality of life is also reflected in the development of Sunrise Park at 169 Urban Road. We’ve already created new hiking and biking trails, with a 1.6-mile trail scheduled to be completed this year. Upcoming features include expanded parking, clear signage, and a public fishing pond for residents to enjoy.

Our Veterans Park has received major upgrades, including brand-new tennis and basketball courts. Plans have been drawn up for two pickleball courts and a new playground. Additionally, our baseball fields are currently being renovated, paving the way for the return of youth Little League to the township.

Through our Township’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Growing Lackawaxen, we’ve expanded community engagement and services. Community offerings include: Care Cabin Food Pantry, Movies in the Park, Themed Bingo, Car Show, and new programs for 2025.

We’ve also increased preserved open space with the acquisition of the 6.5-acre Threshman property along the Lackawaxen River—an important step toward protecting our natural resources while expanding recreational access.

To ensure long-term stewardship of these community assets, we’ve established a Parks and Recreation Board composed of township residents. This board will oversee and manage all township parks and open spaces, ensuring that community input and local pride guide every decision.
